The area of Arenal is quite different from the lower coastal areas in the Pacific and
outstands Costa Rica's incredible biodiversity. Few sights in Costa Rica inspire more awe
and respect that of the fire - breathing Arenal Volcano during the night. Even by day, the
cone shaped colossus commands attention as it rises almost a mile above the sea level and
towers above the small town of La Fortuna with glowing red lava pouring down its
side. The best views of this majestic wonder can be caught from almost anywhere in La Fortuna.
